In 1991, I came to know Jesus through the Campus Outreach ministry the summer of my junior year. Throughout the rest of college, I learned more about Jesus and the Bible through discipleship groups and through church. My heart for overseas missions grew as I understood more of God’s heart to reach all people. I joined the Campus Outreach Thailand team in 1997.

I want to see God use us to reach and build Thai men and women who will one day have families who love and honor God and continue to labor for him.

I grew up in a Buddhist family. I entered Khon Kaen University (KKU) in May 2010 to study Biology.  That year, I became a Christian through Campus Outreach and then was discipled by CO staff as well. In my third year while I interned in a Plant Taxonomy Lab. I enjoyed my studies but thought to myself “I can’t spend my whole life with just plants. There are many people waiting to hear the gospel!” My heart echoes how Isaiah responded to the question “whom shall I send.” So I came on CO staff in 2015. I want to see students disciple other students on campus and to see them be influencers for Jesus in Thailand and to the ends of the world.

I accepted Jesus Christ into my life in 2015 when I participated in a Campus Outreach camp called Thai Summer Project. God has given me a desire to serve Him and my brothers and sisters in Christ. I came into full time service because I want to make God known to others. I feel the Thai people have not known the truth about God at all. Many Thais who have not yet heard the gospel. I see that the laborers are few even when the fields are ripe for harvest. I want God to use me to reach the Thais through reaching university students.

Through the Khon Kaen Campus Outreach ministry that I was made realized who I truly was created in God’s hand. For a year and a half after my realization, I received Him for my life on February 19, 2015.  In the rest of my college, I had been sculptured and grown to savor Jesus and understand God’s grace through discipleship groups and activities with CO as well as suffers against sins within my life. My heart has grown with this perspective: a life worth living is a life with God that led me to do my internship with COKK after my graduation. I want to see God uses us as the light to Thai men and women on campus who will be saved and blessed as we are to be the next blessings for others.

I began a relationship with the Father when I was 9 years old through the children’s ministry at my church. Throughout the next 8 years He cultivated and nurtured a desire in me to see Revelation 7:9-10 become a reality through overseas missions. From age 17-22 I experienced just that in several different countries, and my heart’s affinity grew for Southeast Asia in particular. In August 2017, I moved to Thailand and joined the Campus Outreach team in the city Khon Kaen where I am currently serving as the missionary kids’ teacher and laboring to see the lost come to Christ.

I came into a personal relationship with Christ the summer before my sophomore year of high school. The Lord, by His free gift of grace through Jesus Christ, saved me from the bondage of sin and seeking my identity in the approval and affirmations of others and perfectionism. It is a privilege to be able to serve the Lord full-time in Thailand for two years. I am thankful for the opportunity to see Him be glorified in the community, as well as His name be made known in the households in Khon Kaen.

Shelby recently graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. During her time at UCO, her eternal life was radically changed by the grace of the gospel. A chance encounter with a faithful servant of Christ lead to a gospel centered conversation in a small coffee shop and changed her life forever. Through the discipleship she received from a local college ministry, she learned her purpose is to bring God glory through advancing the gospel to those who have yet to hear the greatest news on earth, equipping believers with the tools needed to become disciples, and raising up laborers on college campuses to become the next world changers that will reach the ends of the earth with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
