I never grew up in a “religious home” but was taught to be a good person and put all of my effort into that. Really sought myself in other people to fulfill myself which led me down a path of always searching for more. It was not until I met a guy on staff with CO who faithfully continued to share the Gospel with me when I wanted nothing to do with Christianity. But the walls slowly fell down and I saw the joy and love these people had in Christ which is what I have been seeking for my entire life. It was there Christ gripped my heart by showing the grace and mercy of the cross and my need for a Savior. This need pushes me now to share the very news that saved me with people here in New Zealand.

It wasn’t until I attend coastal Carolina university that I began to seriously investigate and consider spiritual thing. In my first year at CCU meet some students involved with CO Hey who loved me well and shared the Gospel with me. In 2011 I came on staff with CO in Charleston, SC where I served for 4 years. After several years of stateside ministry I began to feel a call to serve globally. In 2016 I moved to Christchurch, New Zealand to help start the CO ministry at the University of Canterbury.

Sam Kuipers
I grew up in a Christian home with two faithful parents. I always believed, but my faith was not always personal. When I was fifteen, God changed my heart to see him as a Father with whom I could have a relationship and not just a concept to know intellectually. It was then that my journey of head knowledge becoming heart knowledge began. I continued to grow in my understanding of the Gospel, God’s grace, and what it means for me. Upon coming to university, I was challenged with the vision of sharing the Gospel with the world. This vision fueled my desire to decide to work as a labourer on the university campus for the lost world.
