Irene grew up in a loving Christian home in New Zealand. She grew significantly in faith during her university years and had friends come to faith during that time. These experiences, combined with the great need for ministry workers in her homeland, led her to work for 12 years with University Impact and Engage Otago (Campus Outreach) in Australia and New Zealand before moving to Edinburgh, Scotland to help minister to women in a local church plant.

She returned to work part-time for CO in 2021, and in 2024, Irene took up a newly created role, which focused on strengthening and developing Campus Outreach teams in the Europe Network (London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, and Athens). This will involve collaborating with leaders in equipping, resourcing, and developing staff, particularly in cultural adaptation. She will also be involved in grassroots ministry at the University of Edinburgh with the new launch team there.

She is eager to help Campus Outreach in its desire to resource and care for staff well. Strong staff will be a blessing to the students they minister to, the churches they are part of, and the communities in which they live.
